With so much planned for our Grand Launch, here’s how you could spend the day…
10 am – The Market Opens and the Launch begins! Welcome!
Start the day with a warming cappuccino from Anja Jane + Coffee, also check our her beautiful selection of art works, printed scarves and cards, and if you get there early you might be lucky enough to be one of Forsaken Dreams first 10 customers, and walk away with a goodie bag!
Tony Tunes will be proving music from his legendary 78s collection all day, so let’s get dancing and keep warm!
Midday - Craft Guerrilla are offering ‘Make your own Retro Cross Stitch Love Token with Lindsay of L& P Vintage. Spaces are limited so pop in to shop 37 and make your sweet heart a romantic gift!
Waltham Forest Arts Club start their full day of activities with a performance of ‘Masked Interactions’
Check in with Animaux Circus to see how they are doing with their live mural painting, and throughout the day at Carbon 28 there’ll be the chance to design and print your own 100% organic cotton shopping bags, T-shirts, and badges.
1pm - Waltham Forest Arts Club poetry readings
So are you hungry now? Plumbun, the artisan bakery, will be providing lots of yummy cake giveaways, while stocks last.
Or have a rest in the Pop up Picture Palace where artists Lizzy Hobbs and Emily Tracy will be collaborating with Wood Street communities to create an animation to be screened on Valentin road at the end of March. Please pop in and find out more on how you can contribute! They would love to hear from anyone who has memories of the cinemas on Wood Street or knows anything about the film companies that used to be based here.
Whilst you’re feeling the Walthamstow love, pop into their neighbours Folly and Frill to see their Walthamstow-inspired homewares and gifts, and have a free glass of bubbly!
1.30pm - Waltham Forest Arts Club cellist
Now why not visit The Pink Bear Club’s Wood Street Whimsey, but watch out for the Pink Bear, unleashed without warning throughout the day! Also pop into Significant Seams creative community centre and shop, for all your haberdashery needs
2pm - Live Music from Tigercats & Waltham Forest Arts Club poetry readings
Strange Fruit will be selling greeting cards and a letter writing station where you can pop by and design your own valentines card or write a love letter. They will even post it for you! You can also take part in Stinton Films Productions Lucky Dip.
2.30pm The Launch is made *official*, with some short speeches, introductions to the new shops and the announcement of the Wood Street Open Art Competition Winner!
3pm - Waltham Forest Arts Club poetry readings
Are you going out tonight? Grab yourself a new look from one of our wealth of new vintage or vintage-inspired shops: Forsaken Dreams, TRASH, Lady Jane’s Vintage Bandwagon, Just Can’t Help It and Little Pad.
4pm – Live Music with the Little Pad Band
After the band, Tony Tunes takes over the live music again, keeping us moving till closing time! Before you leave don’t forget to take some flowers home, or put in a Valentines order, from Flowers by Kit.
Phew! You must be exhausted by now, so take a rest on one of the Chair Man’s upholstered vintage chairs, and if it’s really comfy, take it home with you!
5.30pm – The Market closes but opens again for business on Monday at 10am
