Wood Street Market Supports Stopober

During October, thousands of people across England are taking part in Stoptober – a new, exciting 28 day challenge to stop smoking.  There’s lots of free support to help you along the way – and the great news is that by stopping smoking for 28 days, you are five times more likely to stay smokefree!

Janet, owner of Scrolls and Shells in the market has created this amazing cake in support of this life saving initiative – great isn’t it?  More about Stopober here

Godiva Awakes in Waltham Forest

In a beautiful display of public art and celebration, Godiva was welcomed to Waltham Forest and the Town Hall on Sunday to a creative and colourfully warm welcome.

Local artists and arts organisations, lead by Studio 3 Arts, were commissioned to lead the local welcome and transformation of the Town Hall.

Godiva Awakes is part of Artists taking the lead, a series of 12 public art commissions across the UK to celebrate the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, funded by Arts Council England.  The piece is made by mechanics, artists, theatre makers, puppeteers and engineers originally from Coventry to the highest standards of contemporary craftsmanship.

Just as it’s proving with the current 2012 Olympics Games, it’s the volunteers that really made this event happen.
